AMERICA'S FIRST EXTREME MULE CHALLENGE
About
the Extreme Mule Challenge:
We
at Rocky Mountain Mule Days have sat down and thought up
some new events for our consigners, as well as those competing
this year. We have designed an obstacle course so
that all of the mules can show their abilities in a trail
setting.
The Extreme Mule Challenge Course:
The
Challenge Course will be set up by the sale arena. It
will feature obstacles similar to what you may encounter
on the trail or on a working ranch. The challenge
course may have obstacles and activities, such as: saddling
your mule, going through obstacles at different speeds,
over bridges, through water; dismounting and mounting,
carrying things while mounted, loading your mule, maneuvering
through loops, etc.
Judging the Challenge Course:
There
will be three judges on the course. Each judge will
score the mule and ride at each obstacle on a point system
from 1-10. This will be based on mulemanship,
control, the mule’s attitude, and overall execution. Each mule
and rider will be required to complete each obstacle in a given time frame
to receive points. If a mule and rider fail to complete an obstacle in
the allotted time, they will be asked to move on and will receive no points
for that obstacle.
The top
ten places will be taken to the finals, where the points system will be the
same and there will be a set time on the course. If you fail to complete
the course in the allotted time, you will be disqualified. We will
have 3 judges; we will take their score cards, pull the high and the low scores,
and keep the one in the middle, as an average score.
Sale Mules:
Entry fees for the Challenge must be paid for Sale Mules,
in order to qualify them for the final round. Any
sale mule may be entered in the challenge course and
be scored. All scores will be announced during
the sale.
How to Apply:
The Mule
Challenge will be open to any rider 18 years old or older, and mules only. All
riders will be competing against each other. There will be no divisions
in this challenge.
How to Enter:
The
entry fee will be $150.00. Individuals may enter
more than one mule, but they must fill out a separate entry
form and pay the fee for each mule. We
will limit entries to 30 paying entries. This will be based on a first
come, first serve basis.
